Last Post for 2012!

31 December 2012

Today is the last day of 2012 - hope everyone had a blast for the year 2012!

A baking Sunday over the last weekend with the family.  Lut invited the family over for a NYE's eve luncheon at his place.  He wipped up a rendang feast while SIL baked chocolate moist cake and I borrowed the oven to bake potatos (instant one lah, bought from Target supermarket!).  It took us more than 20mins, in fact 3 rounds of 20mins to bake the potatos cos either the temperature is not right or we have added too much water.  Outcome still taste abit 'hard' on the potato.  Neymind.  I still have another box to try!

Yeos' third wedding anniversary!  We had dinner at Saboten - free flow of cabbage, rice and miso soup before we pooped over to their room at Pan Pac to check on the best spot to capture the view of fireworks for tonight's celebrations.  Their room view only can see whole of Bras Basah.  Think tonight we need to early early camp outside for the bird's eye view!

It's their now, yearly tradition to celebrate their wedding anniversary cum NYE's celebrations by booking a room in the city and view fireworks over from the floating platform.  And of course, it's our yearly tradition to gate-crash them.  LOL!

Before gate-crashing of Yeos' tonight, we are meeting the HXDA for our post-Christmas gift exchange!  This year party will be held at The Peak - thanks in advance to the Quahs for hosting the HXDA yearly event.  Imma can't wait to see who will 破戒 and buy the items from the forbidden list and get punished!  *evilgrin*

Mr & Mrs Friendly

Our Christmas celebrations with the Hwangs & Yeos at Little Part 1 Cafe and desserts at NeLi's Ice Cream with toppings of some 'juicy gossips' on whats raving online about the scandal of ZRvsYNvsAY!

Cheers to many Christmas celebrations to come! / Bored with punny faces while waiting for the dinner to be served >_<" / Julia photo-bombed with Yeo's mashed waffle ice cream!

Will blog more with pictures in the nexxxxt post (cos I forgotten to bring my SD card out... I have more more more and more pictures snapped over the dinner with gifts exchange somemore)... keep waiting!

It's our first Christmas but he is not in town to celebrate with me & the extended family.  'Tis what he has missed!

Packed gifts for the 'lil ones in tow to the dinner! / BBQ over at Daniel's - Thank you for hosting the family with yummy grills this Chirstmas! / Some Koi at the pond - FIL suggested to BBQ some fishes for dinner... teehee! / 'lil ones say HELLO - its a huge bunch of 'em!

In less than 24hrs, I am already missing ah Thiang terrible-ble-ily... but but I am also starting to miss me having the bed to myself.  HAHA!  Anyhoots, he is coming home tonight!  Whoopwhoopwhoop.  今晚 Imma 去机场接相公去!:))

Weekend before Christmas!

24 December 2012

Christmas gift-exchange part 1 with the Yeo's before out next session with the Hwangs' tonight!

Friday, we went for a late-night ice cream boops and I must say their selection is quite limited and too "milky" taste which is not to our liking.  Headed over to the nearby hawaker for mee-hoon goreng!  Yum.

Fulfilled Yeo's wishlist of buying a coffee maker since the misses do not approve of buying for their home (and anyway they did not have an official house-warming, so we got this for their Christmas!).  So thoughful right?  We're sure that this will be their best Christmas gift for this year.  In the pictures, ah Thiang was like the salesman giving a product presentation to sell the capsule and the machine!  So punny.

A Christmas catch-up with Jade on Saturday.  Jessie has her usual lancing session, so we asked Yeo to join along.  Decided to try out the new coffee place located at the new wing of Plaza Singapura - Hoshino Coffee, a Japanese concept hand-drip coffee place.  Food was meh but the service staff (looked in her teens, a young student on her vacation-job) was pretty attentive thou' and helped us took photo!  It was then exploration of the new-face-lifted shopping mall along NEL...

Always.

24 December 2012

There is always somebody who loves you.

Always.

Happy Birthday Popa!

23 December 2012

Popa's birthday celebration and mini-Christmas gift exchange with the family!

This year with execption, we celebrated Popa's birthday in advance (normally we celebrate birthdays on the actual day).  Because the Tans are celebrating the extended family's 喜事, Grace's wedding on 27th!  Whoopwhoopwhoop.

Our celebration was a simple yet tasty fare, pots of herbal goodness with the family!  Since I won't be home to celebrate this Christmas, we had this mini-gift exchange over the dinner.  So happy.

愿祝贺啊爸,福禄东海寿比南山! Huart ah!

Christmas Pressie for Moi!

18 December 2012

Christmas is exactly a week away!  Days by days, months by months and years by years passed... 2012 is coming to an end.  Well, some said the World will come to an end on 21st December... if this is true, there goes my fat pay-check (AWS month okay...) for December and 那这个月我就不是白干了吗?! :(

Something I look forward in the next weeks... to show off my new Kate Spade bag!  YAY!!!  I've been wanting to get this model - cobble hill small leslie.  就是对它念念不忘。 So this, I buy myself as Christmas pressie!  :P

During our honeymoon vacation, we went to all the premium outlets to look for this design but no sign of it in any outlets we visited (plus no time go retail outlets...) so I bought other bags instead (total 4 - Michael Kors, 2x KS and Coach).

After my vacation, I bugged Oba to SP for me... and she did!  So nice right.  She said her friend cannot SP two bags so she sacrificed her model for mine leh.  *TOUCHING*  很多人情债啊! She even gotten the bag to be nicely wrapped and I am so 不舍得 to open up and check for defects.  Bad move right - she purposely one!  LOL.  I do so kena for very long (much contemplation in Japanese...), I 不管三七二十一 and opened up the box to do the check the very last min before my bed time.  Now it's neatly packed into the box waiting for 开幕典礼!哈哈哈哈!

Similar to MK design which is more structured, boxy and gang-ho look, KS design comes with a softer leather feel and more lembek look and of course accessibility is better compared to MK.  Both are my current favorite bags NOW.

Next time for sure I will make space to make a handbag closet in the room (like Jessie) to showcase and display all my bags!  I think I am more a shoes cabinet and handbags closet person rather than a walk-in wardrobe.  So.  Don't judge me.  HAHA!

Nookmag 3rd Anniversary Party & Weekend BBQ!

16 December 2012

It was the Nookmag 3rd anniversary last Friday and of course, we were invited to the street party held at Haji Lane!  Weather was kind to us and we had free flow of burgers, drinks and beer and pop the cake (instead of the normal cake-cutting session)!

Then was <The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey> movie date with the Yeo's and I named it ,,An Unexpected Journey with the Orbits".  I was extremely super turbo uber tired and I actually dozed off 2/3 of the movie!  Woke up at the scene when the Hobbit, Bilbo escaped from Gollum (eh, I actually know their names OK...) after stolen the ring onwards... story too dry or what?  But ah Thiang and all say it was not too bad leh... mm, ok lah my bad, maybe I will find one day to re-vist the movie before part 2 and 3 is out.  Felt so guilty having to waste S$7.50 to sleep in the cinema.  >_<"

Weekend BBQ with the Sapurians!  It's another get-together-session, ghost story-telling session plus mosquito-feeding session too!  Haha, that's Benny, ah Thiang, Mike and Edna photo-bombing.  LOL!!!

Now... must chop chop get back to the table and finish painting the second Xmas presents for Yeo's!  ah Thiang target to finish the last color by tonight!  Compared to when we first started, 路来路好看了... 我们很有心 hor!Dateline is drawing near...  赶工去咯! Can't wait to surprise them with the two pressiessssss!  :))

Christmas Shopping with the Folks!

08 December 2012

Kick-start our weekend with the folks at Pepes Indonesian Restaurant before we start our Taka additonal 10% Christmas shopping!  Fwah.  We all 如来如早 start our dinner lo... normally we had dinner almost, after 8pm... but by 7.20pm we were already halfway through our dinner - so that we can chop chop go shopping!  HAHA.

Food was OK (but we liked Sanur better although they served the similar kind of dishes)... service was MEH and rude.  How this goes was when we place our order, we enquire about the free flow of rice but that is only applicable to order of white rice (S$1.80) but since we all ordered yellow rice (S$2/serving) we also can get free flow of white rice.  So.  We did ordered two serving of white rice and this was charged to our final bill.  I asked why are we charged for the refill and it was the waitress mistake by telling us the wrong information.  Guessed what... she asked if it is OK for me to sign off the bill.  !^$%#@*^&%  WTF!  I asked her nicely if she would asked a customer to pay for her mistake and she said no.  Then?!?!  Go revise my bill lah.  She quickly apologized and went back to cashier.  Naymind.  I am not so angry but what pissed me off was that the cashier (whom she looked upon as supervisor... I still remember her name ok, cos her staff bao to to me one!) came and told us that in the menu clearly stated that only order of white rice then we have refill so remind us next time we will make the same mistake.  I told her that it was her staff's mistake who told us differently from what is stated in the menu hence it is not our fault!  Then she just walked off and have no guts to present us the revised bill and gotten her staff to do it instead.

讲了还没那么气, 越想越生气!So so so so pissed.  Damn.  Grrrr.
Anyways, 我大人有大量... this didn't spoilt our mood for Christmas shopping...  So happy we that we managed to get the Yeos' pressies (imma sure this year is a BIG fat pressies we are getting them and imma sure he will like it alot!!!) and the upcoming HXDA gift-xchange!  Can't wait for the Xmas to faster come.  Ho ho ho!

Munic's Birthday Celebration!

24 November 2012

Some snapshots of my short weekend before I start my long work week ahead - setting up of booth for OSEA 2012 and to mend the booth for the next four days (already planning what to have for lunch for the next four days at MBS...).

HXDA celebrated Munic's birthday at Long Beach Seafood Restaurant - easing his craving for 竹蚌 (gosh, I thought only preggy has craving but look, is the husband not the wife!  LOL!)...  ah Thiang did not join us cos he booked out quite late in the evening... and it was raining heavily and and plus feeling super grouchy for not able to get a cab from camp... thus he had fried rice from home instead.  #disgruntedman  >_<"

Visited SITEX and bought my accessories and beautified my gadgets - camera skins for my XZ-1 and Hello Kitty external power tube!  Did some free shopping at SAFRA Mount Faber's store (using his NS credits...) and had Porn's Thai cuisine for dinner before heading to our impromptu movie date - The Twilight Finale Saga; Breaking Dawn Part 2!

I love Saturdays!  ^^

Munic and his birthday cake! / My Saturday get-up! *SWEE SWEE* / My buys at SITEX! / Dinner at Porn's!

Baby Ken's First Month & Converse Connectivity Event!

19 November 2012

Last Saturday in pictures!

ah Thiang finally traded-in his D200 for D800 so we moonlighted in a Converse event, organized by SimCik to earn extra bucks to cover our losses.  ... nay, HAHA!  Pictures turned out really nice.  Nicer than his former toy I must say.

We rushed down to Bugis Junction for the event right after we attended Puay Yong's baby Ken first month celebration held at TCC Marina.  The girls are unable to make it so only ah Thiang and I turn up as representatives for the gang.  :)

After the Converse event, ah Thiang 跑台 to attend his staff's wedding nearby Bugis (Queens' Hotel, I think) and I met up my folks for dinner and kopi session at CBTL!

What a busy Saturday...

A shot of us with the pretty Mommy and baby Ken @ TCC Marina!

Posing for the event shot and look... ah Thiang's new toy!  I looked so pretty in the screen preview...  Tsk!

Our Honeymoon - SIN/LAX/SFO/LAS/LAX/HKG/SIN

11 November 2012

HELLO, I have not forgotten my lil space here!  Back from my 3weeks of vacation last Friday.  I can't believe I've almost forgotten my password to on my computer, just because I have MIA-ed for the last tweleve working days?  Only managed to try three times before I recalled my newly changed password.  *phew*

This post will be the executive executive exclusive summary of my WHOLE honeymoon (well, if I have the damn time then I will do a proper post of each places we visited... but.  I highly doubt so... because... I have just wasted the whole blardy Sunday - almost 10hours of uploading nine albums onto Facebook and imma now super pissed, tired and can't wait to hit the sack NOW!).

Aaaaaaawesome trip to the sunny California (real sunny, my face shade has gone two shades darker!), having to super-glued my ah Thiang 24/7 and kenna nagged/scolded by him throughout the trip (kept taking photos lah, slow lah, late lah, buy and buy lah and the list goes on...) HAHA!  Shopping.  Shopping has never been so shiok-ed throughout all my travel trips especially in the States!  I have the whole list of loots to list but nay, just too lazy.  Anyway, ah Thiang liked Disneyland alot too and say wanna bring his kids there when they are five years old.  Oh!  Imma going back Disneyland five years later (provided I get pregnant now lah...)!

Some of the highlights of our three weeks holiday:

Cloud-less clear blue sky in LAX / Mickey's Halloween Party (costumes proudly sponsored by Edna) / Monterey Bay / Lombard Street / Golden Gate Bridge / Yosemite National park

The horrible Hollywood Tower ride at Disney California Adventure / ah Thiang's winning at LAS Casino / Hoover Dam / Grand Canyon - West Rim

Universal Studios Hollywood / Hollywood Walk of Fame / Sunset at the Getty Centre / Hong Kong night view / View from The Peak

Short right (already said it's an executive summary liao)...  Imma old already and have not been sleeping well since day 1 when I left for my honeymoon and somemore I've been sitting on the same spot since noon to upload my photos with errors kept poping up... no image on the albums that I created on Facebook... must understand the fustration I've been thru the whole of my Sunday (12hours of screen work! no joke.).  So, thats my summary of my honeymoon!  #missionaccomplished  *pat on the shoulder*

Gonna enjoy another two more days, decided to take another day off from work before I slog like mad to pay off my credit card bills (my loots including six pair of shoes, four bags, clothes and misc purchases!  see I so enjoy my honeymoon cum holiday cum shopping cum sightseeing!).  #卡奴  LOL!

It has really been a fantabulous trip ever.  I hope, we can plan such trips annually.  GOODNIGHT!

ah Thiang's Pre-Birthday Celebrations!

22 October 2012

Hola!  A quick post before we scoot off to our 3weeks honeymoon - celebrating Hari Raya Haji, Halloween and ah Thiang's birthday in the potato land!

Organized two rounds of pre-birthday celebrations for ah Thiang and a family get-together-dinner before we MIA for the next good 'ol 17 days.  Another round of surprises for ah Thiang awaits at SFO!  Teehee!

Round 1: Dinner at Ootoya at Orchard Central with the Yeo's then an ice-cream feast at Haagen Dazs at Holland Village outlet (where Yeo performed a magic tutorial and broke a glass!  Oooops...).

Get-together-dinner: At Jalan Kayu, XM bak kut teh and tua huay break with my folks.  This was like another yellow-ribbon project where the outlet was run by some ex-convits (the boss, himself also an ex-convits too).  Wonder what crime did they commit... but hey, food was good.  Will come back again!

Round 2: Dinner at Chili's with the family (back for more bottomless chips and drinks for the second time running in the same month)!

Tzer Liang & Helena's Wedding Celebrations!

14 October 2012

Yesterday HXDA celebrated the last wedding of the gang member - Tzer Liang & Helena!  Love the set up of their wedding reception.  All hand-made by Tzer Liang (Helena said one lah, but I'm sure it's both hard work...).  They had pre-wedding photography shots done in casual attires and shooting scene is back to where the love birds met 9 years ago at NTU.  Sweet right... look at that giant angbao at the reception table!?!?!  The couple presented us with a few sets of photo & video montages and a live band to entertain the guests during the dinner.

Oh... forgot to mention, their wedding JP is the same as ours - Mr Chan Kai Yau!  ah Thiang so wanted to go over to say hello and recall to him we are also one of the lovely couples he solemnized 7 months and 1 day ago, the same time (ehmm... the lovely couple, I mean us.).  Teeeheee!

Some gorgeous shots with the gorgeous couple!

Happy 7th Month Wedding Anniversary!

12 October 2012

ah Thiang bought me cupcakes on our 7th month wedding anniversary!  Whoopwhoopwhoop.  Just the two of us, we had our bottomless cravings fixed at Chili's - newly opened outlet nearby our place, just 8 minutes walk.  It was very crowded at the diner but we managed to get a table within mintues.  So lucky us.

Gonna hit the sack early tonight... gonna store up my battery for tomorrow - morning porridge 鱼生 date with Moma & Popa, Pauline & Issac's house-warming and scooting off to Tzer Liang & Helena's wedding celebrations with the HXDA!  :)

Hatched!

07 October 2012

Catching up with the Yeo's last weekend over an egg-inspired dinner at Holland Village after my preview at Giselle's Closet new and upcoming collections!  Baked, boiled, fried, poached and scrambled... have it whatever way, your way.  Food was meh and don't think we are coming back anytime soon.  So... another place checked-out from our list of food hunt...  :)

祝大家中秋节快乐!

30 September 2012

It was a kind of tradition for the newlywed to receive lanterns from the 娘家 and light up the lanterns on this festive season.  By doing so, the newlywed will soon have babies - 添丁; it will be boys I guessed, because my Moma got us a pair of birds (if you know what I mean... lol)!  They are made from a very traditional glass-paper materials!  Old skool right.  I know.  Everyone walked past us was like "WOW, looked so traditional..." (or orbit, if you like) when they saw us holding the glass-paper lanterns (cos their lanterns were either battery operated or made of paper-type materials).  *so prouda my Moma*

We had a short walk at Central after our dinner then to Hong Lim Park (to continue show off my lanterns) before heading home for some tea and mooncakes.  :))

ah Thiang helping me set up my lantern / 'nah' impaitently - first word he said to me after numerous attempts of lighting up the candle from the strong wind / Loved my old skool glass-paper birdy lanterns!

今年带着不一样的心情过中秋。 因为今早送走了 Veny,陪了她走完最后的旅程 (相信她将会去到更美好的世界)。。。 也因为她,我们 (ok lah, not 我们 because Jessica was also ah Thiang's poly-mate... so, only me lah hor... anyways, details are not important...) I repeat.  我们也结交了新朋友 - Jessica & Calvin. 谢谢 Veny.

Thomas & Jonette's Wedding Celebrations!

24 September 2012

Down to the second last member of the HXDA to tied the wedding knott!

Congratulations to the Quah's!  Today he is organizing an appreciation dinner at the Marriott Cafe to thank all the brothers who helped out on his wedding day.  Spouses are invited too!  Thank you Mr & Mrs Quah.  :)

Very rarely I dolled up my hair for such joyous occassion.  So.  Must-haves to camwhore abit.  Wow. The aftermath of my dolled hair >>> painful bumps and soreness on my scalp from the poking of or-pins onto my hair.  Not going back to the salon to doll my hair.  Ever!  (just because uncle Sunny is not working yesterday that's why I resorted in going to neighbourhood salons...)  Imagine I have to go down second time to have my hair 'tidy' up as ah Thiang says all the or-pins are all visible and looked ugly.  So pek chey.  *sayang-ing my head*

Anyhoots.  Imma also wearing new lace dress to the wedding!  Loving every bits of the lace details, especially the v-back!  Swee bo?  Very victorian right?  Maybe the hair style not so matching (but ok lah, just wanna sweep the hair to one side so that can see the v-back mah).  Tsk.  Too glam for work, probably the next time I get to wear is on Grace's wedding celebrations end of this year.  Heh.

俊男美女 / Lace dress with nice v-back details! / The Quah's / HXDA at the wedding!

Next and last wedding celebrations of the HXDA will be...

R.I.P Veny (1982-2012)

20 September 2012

This is a post delicated specially to our dear friend, Veny.  She was a brave and strong fighter, great mother to Widjaya and Widyana, a great & supporting wife to Sim Cik and is always very approachable to anyone who knows her!  It's with deepest regrets to know that she has left us earlier today in Innsbruck, Austria for a better world.

*Photos taken during National Day celebrations - Our last outings with Veny*

Veny has a condition known as Giant Haemongioma at the liver and was found out only in early August - she has this condition since young and was never diagnose.  We just got to know her health condition on the day we met for NDP celebrations, just days after she was discharged from a 3-day admission in A&E.

So.  They still go ahead for the trip which was since planned in June (specialist doctor in Singapore told them it was safe and no issue on travelling too).  Then.  It was a holiday nightmare in Salzburg.  She was admitted to the hospital in Salzburg after the Haemongioma bleed on 27 August - just 4th day of their travel!  They thought they could return for treatment but last week she has another massive internal bleeding and was transfered to ICU.  She was into coma since Monday...

On the night before, we left a recorded voice messages to encourage her, give support (ah Thiang even reminded her about the expensive brunch we had... and we are waiting for her to come back so that we go brunch again!) and whatsapp-ed to Sim Cik to play to her to keep their vibes up.  We were praying for her everyday for recovery (or stabilization) so that she can repatriate home for treatment but the day never come...

Now all We have are memories,
and your picture in a frame.

Your memory is our keepsake,
with which We'll never part.

God has you in Heaven,
We have you in our heart.

Rest In Peace Veny (1982-2012)
You're still loved, still missed and very dear.

*Photo of us taken exactly a year ago - 24 September 2011 at one of the Bishan CC YEC event.*

Dearest Sim Cik,

Our deepest condolences to you and your family.

Hold tight to memories for comfort,
lean on your family and friends for strength,
and always remember how much you are cared about.

Please take care and continue to stay strong for Widjaya and Widyana!
Veny will protect and watch over you from the above.

Love always,
Arthur & Wendy

Jade's Belated Birthday Treat!

12 September 2012

A post-birthday treat for my BFF!

We are back to Morton's to celebrate Jade's belated birthday!  It has been almost a year since we last dine at Morton's - pre-celebrated ah Thiang's birthday before I flew off for my work trip in Germany.

From the last dining experiences, serving portion was HUGE therefore this time round we ordered 2 sets of steak & seafood combo to share!  *clever right*  The two of them kept bio-ing other couple seated at the other side of the table kpo-ing and laughing at them as they ordered 1 set each and see how they managed to finish their meal!  >_<"

Jade enjoyed the dinner (we're glad she did!) and get to keep the "group" photo taken by the service staff!  Best part was... *roll drums* ... she said she will bring me to Pollen Restaurant to celebrate my birthday next year wor!  Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~

ah Thiang also ordered a 1.5litre bottle of red wine to co-celebrate our six-month anniversary! Time flies... it was exactly 6 months, this date when we both walked down the aisle of our red carpet hand-in-hand and exchanged our wedding vows... and yet this seemed like it just happened yesterday!  *toast to many many years ahead*

Happy 6th-month anniversary!

Of The Hossan Leong Show and Baby Bashes!

09 September 2012

Hola!  Another weekend filled with fun, laughter and baby bashes!

Our favorite stand-up comedy; The Hossan Leong Show!  This year's performance wasn't as good as show 3 (last year), probably due to 'flying solo' - lacking of the funny Porn-sak/Teo Chiew Mui and hence there wasn't much to anticipate except for the pole-dancing segment and boy, Hossan looks really petite (from my circle 1 - row CC's view) and fit in his trunky while he demo his pole-dancing.  We laughed our hearts out during the 1.5hr show!

Baking session with Mama-inlaw on Saturday!  SIL came over to learn to bake my Mama-inlaw's speciality - fruit cake!  I've got her secret recipe lo... by just taking photos and photos and photos which will marked the 'journey' of baking cake.  *donncha know Imma so clever right?*  Ok lah, must really hands-on then can learn the real thing, last weekend was a just 'preview' for me...

It was then attending the two babies' (baby Yu Xuan and baby Harris) 1st year old birthday celebrations - one at the end-north of Singapore and other one is at the end-east of Singapore on the same day!  Simply can't take my eyes off the 3D birthday cakes that were displayed at the party.  They were so so so gorgeously beautiful.  They cost a BOMB too.  Heard from the mommies that each would probably cost S$230-S$320 to make one and must self-collect somemore!

Baby Yu Xuan's theme was a animal safari theme and Baby Harris was a Thomas & Friends' theme - as you can see from the photos....  Mommy Ana went all out to customize Baby Harris' kit-kat in Thomas & Friends' wrapper too!

Nowadays birthday parties are so competitive...  you have all sort of themes to plan, decorating the venue and prepare goodies bags for the lil' kids attending the party!  I have even come across one chalet that was decorated in Disney princess theme filled with party packs, backdrops for photo-taking and props that were imported all the way from Disneyland!  (... and not to mention, they even have pop corn and candy floss cart outside the chalet, also managed by an event company!)  *head spinning liao... next time my children's turn how?*

Ohaiyo September!

03 September 2012

Our September weekends are filled with baby bashes and wedding celebrations!  Next thing you know, I am going off to my long vacation!  Imma cannot wait.  Can't.  Wooohoooo!

Had a blasting feast for the past few days!  Celebrated my Mama-inlaw's birthday, went to my colleague's baby Jovian's full-month celebration, visited Singapore Toy, Games & Comic Convention (STGCC 2012) at Marina Bay Sands Expo Convention Hall (they, too had a cosplay event in the next hall and we pop over to take some photos of the characters, they were extreme-li-list > if you know what I meant... they dressed up all the way!  We even witnessed the starwars troop dancing to the 'Oppa Gangnam Style' music!).  Then an awesomelicious treat from Yeo-嫂 at The Oscars, Conrad Centennial!

I think (not think, I MUST had has...) too much of a feast and my throat is showing me 'colors'... red for now (sore sore lah!).  Booo!

Cute heart-shape mashmarallow from Mama-inlaw's birthday dinner at Seoul Yummy / Seafood Sizzlelini from Spageddies / YUMMY beef ribs from Ju Shin Jung East Korean BBQ / Us at STGCC 2012 / awesomelicious Sunday's treat to end the feasting weekend!

We have 2 babies' one-year-old bashes coming up this weekend!  But before the bashes come, we are so gonna be very very entertained by our SG local stand-up comedy > The Hossan Leong Show!  So looking forward to win something this year - air tickets to Gold Cost (last year was the 小旋风, remember?)!  Wooohooop whooop... wheeeeeeeeeee!

August Spree!

19 August 2012

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri!  (enjoying holidays for today and tomorrow...!)  Whoopwhoopwhoop.

My birthday pressie for this year came late (two months overdue but better than no come, right?) and I thought I can get myself something during my honeymoon spree but I guessed this is pretty much expensive-er from what I have expected.

It was chanced upon a discussion last weekend with my future SIL on why she is having a breakout on her chins and she explained it might be the use of Clarisonic (perhaps face was too clean after using the brush and causing the breakouts...) and I told her I heard so much raves about the wonders of this brush and will most propably check it out when I am in US to buy too!

So.  Cut the story short...  ah Thiang googled and researched on the cleansing brush with good reviews and he brought me to Sephora the next day to check out this magic brush.  Over the dinner, he decided we he will buy in SG instead so that we he save the hassle of warranty and exchanges issues over the purchase in US although you get them in US for USD149 (1yr warranty) and S$249 from Sephora with a 2yr warranty which is cheaper by S$60...  So we he kinda trade-off the differences in price as the second year warranty for the unit.  Well, guessed I have already have plans in getting the brushes in US... this should be at least 40% off SG pricing!  Yes.  It was a Clarisonic for my this year's birthday pressie!  I did not forget the giant peanut butter cupcake too.  :)  So loved.

Since this is a birthday pressie, I got the sales assistant to gift-wrapped for me and I skinned them apart the moment I got home... just to charge the unit for the next 24hrs for first time use.  #cheapthrills  Me still trying to get used to using a brush while cleaning my face...  :P

It was another weekend dinner date with the Yeo's and he wanted to check out the new mall, JCube in Jurong (but we only managed to explored Francfranc store and the whole mall was closed by the time we finished our shopping!).

We kick-start the long weekend having dinner at Itacho after a good queue of 20mins.  Lacking of service staffs, food selection in the menu was so-so, food also so-so... so, not coming back anytime soon... not worth the queue.

But spree-ing at Francfranc was pretty much exciting to shout about!  I was happily snapping up the plates, mugs, forks, spoons, coasters and table mats on the shelves (not many lah, only 4 sets of each)...  With 40% (or some only 20% discount) storewide plus additional 10%, I totally went crazy!  ah Thiang was very encouraging thou'.  "You sure?  Enough?  How about this... how about that...  Take lor... buy lor."  These were all what he said in store to me! (prease... can he practise the same when we go for our honeymoon spree in two months time, preaseeeee?)  Total damage was slightly over S$300 (with discount somemore!) and he paid for it!  Imagine how much we he will bleed if there is no discount (if no discount, we propably will not buy a single item!?!)?  HAHA.  So, no need imagine.  Will temporary store them in my 娘家 till I stock up more Disney products in the upcoming trip and 'transfer' them over when our new home is ready.  WOW WOW.  Can't wait for the day to come so that I can decorate our home with all my Mickey mouses and Jay Chou displays!!!  #evil

Happy Birthday to our sengseng-O!

13 August 2012

Celebrated my baby brother's birthday last weekend with the family!  He just turned 21st 28th this year!!!

We went back Sakuraya Fish Mart for more freshess-ness!  Order more stuffs this time... more sashimi, hotate, saba, soba, udon, maki and more!  Popa and Moma liked the otopus alot and we had two portions.  Bill choked up to S$150 for 7pax.  I think the price is reasonable as the last round we had with the Goh's was about S$70-ish already!  Naise.  We will be back with the Yeo's the next round.  :)

After dinner, we sang birthday song and had cakes at Toby's the Dessert Asylum, located 2nd floor next to Nike store.  Service was not up to our standard (we very 'green-vege' liao, but the service level simply sucks... long story short, we propably won't be coming back!).  Had a lil' shopping before Papa-inlaw came to send us home (they were on the way back from Punggol, after transporting a over 10-year old antique microwave in baby blue!>_>"  LOL!

Happy 47th Birthday, Singapore!

09 August 2012

Loving Singapore, Our Home!

Happy National Day!

This year's National Day was celebrated differently from past years... because we are celebrating together as Mr & Mrs Arthur Tan... (haha, any/every event after 12 March 2012 is celebrated differently from the past years.  BLEH!).  Anyways, ah Thiang joined YEC this year so we get to participate events organized by the community centre (why we still no get to go watch NDP live at the floating platform?!?!) and he bought tickets to the National Day Observance Ceremony!

Had to wake up as early as 6am because the event starts at 7am!  Koaz, I don't even get to wake up as early as that on my workdays.  And I woke up late (that explained the latter...).  We took a cab down and when we got there, all the senior citizens were warming up for their Bishan East walk (and the caterers were just setting up the place!).  >_<"  We didn't had the energy to join them... and SMS-ed SimCik what time he is reaching so that we can go breakfast together!  MUAHAHAHA!  We had McDonalds.  BIG breakfast.  :)

After our breakfast (the Goh's were still preparing to leave the house!), we walked back to the event and we are in time for the flag raising ceremony after the guest-of-honour, Mr Wong Kan Seng's arrival.  I almost teared while singing of the national anthem.  Always felt so emo during this moment.  So touching and so glad that I am a Singaporean.  #iamsingaporean  wtf.  Reunited with the Goh's after the ceremony and we saw 吴家的第二个宝,Widyana (rare occassions that she was brought out of the house!).  ah Thiang was so happy 'bonding' with her.

We went brunch (the Goh's breakkie) at J8 and took a walk back to the house to chat... then suggested to go I12Katong to eat the lao bak sai Popiah and Laska.  But sadly when I woke up from my car-nap (fell asleep lah, woke up at 6am leh!), we landed in Parkway Parade for the lao bak sai Mee Rebus and later learnt that the foodcourt was going thru some renovation and the stall was no longer to be found!  Haiz, 赔了夫人 (popiah) 又择宾 (mee rebus)!Luckily we get to try another lao bak sai sashimi restaurant located at basement 1, inside a Japanese supermarket!  Bestest-ed, afforadable and freshest-est sashimi ever tasted.  So mouth-watering and the udon also yum yum!  ah Thiang bought a bottle of sake from the supermarket for tonight's gathering at my aunty's house and I bought bak kua and popcorns for the family too!

Cathing the NDP telecast live at aunty house with the family and again, almost teared while singing of the national anthem.  Cannot believe myself, I so 爱国!Majam only!  We ordered pizza hut which took them 90mins to deliver, luckily we have our bak kua and popcorns to tahan the hungry-ness.  And not forgetting the bottle of sake to toast the night of celebration.

Had an eventful day today and looking forward to this weekend as it is gona be another eventful, funfilled-ful and whatever-ful weekend; celebrating my baby bro's birthday and meeting up with the HXDA gang for a dim sum brunch (plus receiving red-bomb from the Quah's and propably pop-over to catch The Peak's view from his unit).

Simply cannot contain my upcoming weekend's excitement.  YAY!

Celebrating National Day in Advance!

06 August 2012

Had a lazy Saturday afternoon kopi-ing with ah Thiang at Kith Cafe located at Park Mall before going to the bean bag chairs showroom to test-sit on their various bean bag chairs (... ah Thiang has been eye-ing to buy!).  Not decided if we will get one... but can see ah Thiang is VERY keen indeed.

We then headed down to meet the Goh's at Bishan open field for the Bishan East 47th National Day celebration dinner!  He has previously bought a table-ful of seats and so kind to invite us over to join this celebration.  It has a over 200-tables of guest/residents and the guest-of-honour is Mr Wong Kan Seng (I only learnt that his name rythms as "wong can't sing" when he was invited to sing a song on stage!  Hilarious!!).  Sim Cik was a lucky man.  He won the 60th something prize - a miniature Tai Hwa Premium Soya Sauce and a S$40 Wing Tai shopping vouchers!  Lucky indeed (but I am the one paid attention to the calling out of lucky draw numbers!  HEH!!)

1-1 Sunday breakfast at Marche Bar & Bistro at Raffles City Shopping Centre (newly revamped their eatery outlets).  Good deal as their 'big breakfast' cost about the same price or slightly cheaper than McDees after calculating the 1-1 deal per pax.  However, they are really lacking of service staffs on the floor... I have to take my own tea spoon, tissues and olive oil blah blah blah.

WOW WOW!  Booked our "哈密月" at the Travel Fair in Suntec after our breakfast!  We were there from 1-4pm and changed our travel dates twice!  Simply cannot contain the excitement of just the thoughts of spending Halloween in Disneyland!  +++ghostcalls.... wohoooooooo+++  Will be meeting up with Enda for outlets shopping when we get there!  Now working hard on our plans for extension stay in LA and do stop-overs in HK.  *HEADACHE*  How how??  Why HK hotels are so expensive?!?!?!

Anyhoots....  Three more days to Singapore 47th National Day!  Welcoming the holidays!  YAY!

July Updates!

30 July 2012

The lacking of updates on this little space are mainly due to my computer which was never recovered from the virus attack since two months back.  And since then my files and folders in my c:\drive are always gone and missing from desktop.  The month of July was terrible.  It was down like every other day.  IT guys in Germany were doing backup, scanning infected files from server, reinstalling my files and I am doing Windows installation every now and then (so pro already!)...  This is taking alot of my time in waiting and waiting... lotsa work to catch up too.  #paininmyass

So, this is completely fix last Friday (HOPEFULLY. FINALLY.) and here I'll give a short update on what's eating over the last weekend before Auggy (Month of August lah...) is here!

After Jess's much rave about cakes and desserts from The Wok & Barrel, we finally get to try them last Friday.  It was a hawaker fare with a mod of twist.  We were so looking forward to the desserts while the mains are being served.  +HEHE+  OK.  I am going to be a lazy bum-ing today.  I'll redirect reading of reviews to Giselle's Closet where Jess made the full review from her first visit to the restaurant.  Then I can has lesser texts to type...  :P

Happy hour promo; Pizza at $5.90 with every order of beer / atas Nasi Lemak / Tried the Chocolate Stout Cake w/Vanilla Ice-cream, Puloh Hitam Cake with Gula Melaka Butterscotch & homemade Coconut Ice-cream and their legendary Chendol "神抖"! / Impromtu waffles date on a lazy Saturday night! / Bananarama > I've got my waffles fix!  YAY!

Met up my folks for dinner last evening at the newly opened (a month ago!) Paradise-chains of restaurant at Compasspoint Mall > Canton Paradise!  Finally some nice and decent restaurants added to the F&B list in the mall!  (... wondering why Ajisen can survire there for so long!)  It was super long Q when we were there to take 'Q number' at 5.20pm!  They served canto-styled dishes like roast meats, dim sum, porridge, noodles, soups and desserts.  The meal was yummy... even the bowls of plain rice tasted so delicious!  I loved my dessert > some aloe vera thingy!  We saw alot of orders of BBQ honey pork bun and custard buns but we were too full to try them.  Moma bestest-ed.  She signed me up for their 'membership card' thingy after much sales-talk from the cashier (She paid lah... and I get it for FREE!) and we'll have discounts in our next visits for one year... we'll be back to try out more dishes/bites!  ++SLURPED with excitment!++

Fwoah.  It is kinda norm to have a kopi-session/dessert after a meal (be it with family or friends)... and the next thing we know, we had an hour long kopi-session at Ya Kun right after dinner!  The whole session was all about beanie bag chairs!

ah Thiang thought that this might interest my aunt to buy one for her new house.  We had a good 30mins or more researching and discussing on the type of beanie bag chairs available, price from different online stores and styles that we can turned the chair to!  My aunt is so interested that she already taken down the address of the showroom and so going down to try all the types of design before she decides if she will get one for her new house today!  Popa also a fan of beanie bag chairs (we used to have two back then when we're still staying in Bedok)... maybe I can get one for him too!  Now, ah Thiang has been trying his luck for the longest time to have one in the room too... well, let's see...  LOL!  #eyesbeamed

Jessie's Birthday!

15 July 2012

Was unwell for almost the WHOLE week.  MC-ed.  An undigestive gastric, vomitted at least three times... then cold with fever, later suspected case of dengue fever and went blood test and result was negative (PHEW!).  Doctor recommended that I should start on my antibotics for a course of 5-days after the results showed that my white cells are seriously infected.  At least for now, I am on the road to recovery...  *body-ache-ING*  Not much of updates for this week but some overdue highlights from last Sunday's adventure!

We celebrated Jessie's birthday!  祝Yeo-嫂福入东海,寿比南山!(this was meant to be updated last week. hee. same lah, huart ah!!!)  I decided on the venue which was Dean & Deluca, located at Orchard Central.  A newly open cafe (in fact it was very popular among the States)... we had brunch date after their church service.  It was a brunch-treat for Jessie.  #You'rewelcome  Had a long wait and we are required to queue again to order our food.  Well, ah Thiang is now so against brunch-out after my recommendations to trying all the cafes that received good reviews.  To him, they were only boo-boo... over-rated and over-priced for some poached eggs with bread.

Long Q outside Dean & Deluca / ah Thiang testing out the honey samples killing his boredom / Cam-whore before it's our turn to order FOOD! / We started off with desserts then mains >_<" / The 'petrol-smelling' Portobello Cheesesteak Burger

After brunch, we had an impromptu adventure to the zoo >>> YES.  Night Safari!  Birthday gal gets free entry.  Booo!!!  (Ok lah, we also free entry... ah Thiang used his points to redeem the entry tickets.  Heh).  It was our first time to Night Safari!  Invited mom-in-law as senior citizens gets half-priced!  Oh oh, Yeo also has a 30% discount too!  Everyone was so happy.  The whole adventure was so 'tiam- tiam'... we got to the zoo early and have a quick bite before the gates opens at 7pm sharp and left the zoo after hoping the last tram ride at 11.30pm!  See, tiam anot?  LOL!  Who says no one goes zoo on Sundays?!?!

We ended the night having a mid-night dinner at Upper Thomson Road and hit the sack at 2am!  No. More. Such Sunday adventure.  Everyone of us had a 'hangover'.  But it was an enjoyable one.  :)

At the entrance / Getting our tickets at the counter!!! / Quick bite at Bongo / Birthday gal with her special zoo badge! / Fire spitting performance / the correct marking of "Zebra-crossing" / Creatures of the Night show which scared the hell out of my mom-in-law & Jessie! / Final shot of us at the last tram ride!

SIN/VN/SIN - Day 6

06 July 2012

Quick post before I can finally shut down my computer and go home!  ah Thiang, Popa & Moma is coming to fetch me tomorrow.  YAY!

Managed to try another new deli, a little cosy yet 'French' feel cafe for lunch before heading down to the exhibition hall for tear down.  I must say, I love their deco.  So much warmth.  I like.  One of a better Vietnamese milk coffee I had (kinda taste like milo! must be the aftermath from the lousy coffee I had at MOF that made my tastebud no functioning properly!)!

A wrap-up dinner with the local team at the BBQ garden restaurant diagonally opposite my hotel.  It was a pouring cats and dogs night and I am so worried that my BBQ date with the guys will not happen.  Hey, I was wrong.  They have a huge tentage and everyone was happily BBQ-ing under the shelter on a rainy day!  I smelt like a mobile-BBQ pit when I got back to my room.  #sleepwithwethairagain

Paris Deli for lunch / Just can't get enough of those baguettes! / Wrap-up dinner at Barbecue Garden!

So glad that I came for this one-week 'assignment' in Saigon.  I get to try many many new eatries (some are must-try or strongly recommended by bloggers/websites etc which I have not done so for my past trips) and I am so going home with a happy tum tum!  #simplepleasures

Wooo... the guys are having TGIF fun time without the ladies!  >_<

SIN/VN/SIN - Day 4 & 5

05 July 2012

There is nothing much for me to explore city of Saigon after being here for like the fourth or fifth time... other than daily trips visiting my booth and back to hotel to catch up some work, I also googled on some nice food places to try.  Why I no find out the nice places to eat when ah Thiang and I first came to Ho Chi Minh City?  :(

Planned to go Zan Z Bar for one of my lunches but when I got there, the exterior did not attract me to go in and I continued to walk down the street and stumbled upon Al Fresco (which is also in my to-visit list) and tried their famous baby back ribs.  I must say they are as good as Tony Romas'!

As I was saying, I must eat ice-cream right... so I googled again and found Fanny Ice-Cream and MOF... since SG has MOF and I make my way down to Fanny.  This place is so so SO nice.  So much prettier than the normal ice-cream shops in SG.  I think I will come back the 2nd or 3rd time before I leave.  Know what, I have actually asked 3 person on the street on how-to-get-there!  And when I reached there, I was like "tiew... " I could have cut from this street to that street and so on...  Now I am much clever now...  I know exactly which street can led to which shop/restaurant from which junction.  #pattingmyhead

Saw that there was a Japanese BBQ located next to Saigon Square... and decided to have it for dinner.  Seating arrangement was similar in the usual Japanese restaurant, you get roller blinds as partition from the guest next seat and a personal BBQ stove.  Food was meh and only realized that I have not eaten rice since the day I got here!  Gah.  So much meaty mains like steak, ribs, roti and such...  Oh boy, go back home must turbo detox liao.

MOF in Ho Chi Minh City is slightly different from the one in SG.  They no serve Korean food like bimbimbak in their menu.  Had some udon tonkatsu set and garlic fried rice.  Don't judge me.  Who say I am a small eater?  I am just a hungry SG woman who is having a very late lunch based on SG timing.  LOL!  Btw, the Vietnamese milk coffee here sucks.  NOT. COMING. BACK.

I also visited Black Cat restaurant, which was featured on CNN.com as one of the top 10 must-eat in the world!  I love their wallpapers especially the one has many many giantic baguettes in the restaurant (I even get the staff to take a photo for me!).  LOL!  They are famous for their jumbo-sized burgers (do you realized that there is no McDees in HCMC...?  if you need a burger fix, then try here...  I am not a small eater but this is way too big for me to digest.  :P).  Their burger size is as BIG as Yeo's face (汉堡大过大男生!)... proofs of pictures are all over the restaurant's wall, no bluff!

Tomorrow will be my last night in Ho Chi Minh City... I hope I can find at least one more new food places to feast before heading to rainy Singapore (why you no rain when I'm back home?!?!)!  Boooo...  I missed my ah Thiang!
