Snippets of my 蛇年!

18 February 2013

蛇年初九 》恭喜发财,开工大吉!

It was a wholesome week of feasting and feeling happiness in our nevereverland (many activities i.e sleeping, resting and slacking)... today is back to reality world!

Sum-ing up all my activities for the past week from 年初一 all the way till today with lotsa collages!  (Ok lah, not everyday I have something to share... but at least I have like 7 days packed of activities?  Schedules are back to back ok...  sometimes I missed having to wake up at about 10am everyday and think what plans we have in mind to do or to go...  Hehe!)

蛇年初一 》  Waited for the arrival of the youngest member in the family to 拜年 with the 奶奶&爷爷 before I head back 娘家 for lou hei then back to Bras Basah to bond with the extended family for the rest of the day... won $2 during the mahjong session!  Huart ah!
蛇年初二 》 River Ang Bao 2013!
蛇年初三 》 Baby Livie's 周岁派对!
蛇年初四 》 Had a 1.5rounds of mahjong session with the Gramms!  I won my cab fare - S$10!  Then a movie date with ah Thiang to catch <<Ah Boys To Men 2>> at I12 Katong.  So brave of me to catch a movie without my rag.  >_<"

蛇年初五 》 情人节快乐!Sucha wet wet Valentine's day this year!  Started to rain since the night before and feeling so cozy (other than lunch...) we only stepped out of the house and dressed up for dinner at Vivo (and everywhere was so super long Q...), so we only settled down at the restaurant with the shortest or no Q - JJ.com Fish Mart.  Food was meh...  Sakuraya was better!
蛇年初六 》 A trip to Gardens by the Bay with ah Thiang (took MANY MANY colorful photos... so naise!) before meeting the HXDA gang for lou hei at 周庄!  Joe was snipping his share of lou hei towards us and the whole table is FULL of hei(s).  We were practically scooping the hei(s) off the table top!

蛇年初七 》 人日。Another round of lou hei at Joe's house... his face turned green when we suggested another round of lou hei during Yesterday's dinner!  This time he is more gentle... the hei(s) only fall within the plate.  LOL!

蛇年初八 》 Gathering with the NYP-ians at SimCik's house.  Then an early dinner and kopi with SimCik at Vivo while he waited for the ferry from Batam to arrive to fetch his MIL and son home.

你在蛇年发了吗?

That's sooo much of fun for the past week!  (when are the next holidays coming???  can't wait already!)

Voluntary Work at Bishan Home!

16 February 2013

My first visit to Bishan Home on 年除夕!

It was yet another project by Bishan CC YEC together with NUS SSC to celebrate CNY with the residents.  I am so proud to be part of the team and very excited interacting with the residents there.

There will be the next outing coming March - to the Singapore Flyer!  Heard this project was headed by SimCik, confirm, die die-must-haves to go support right?  ah Thiang and I are going.  :)

Heaps of sponsored hampers for the residents at the briefing room / Song book for the CNY celebration / Chicky dance performance / Residents at the CNY celebration / Lou hei with the residents / DIY 财神爷 costume by the NUS SSC / Group photo with the team!

Bishan Home for the Intellectually Disabled is one of the first purposefully built residential homes for the people with intellectual disabilities in Singapore.  The home is designed to provide a family setting in bedrooms decorated with colorful murals and clustered into neighbourhoods, each with its own shared communal living space for the social interation and recreation.

Dinner Date at Sarang!

07 February 2013

Dinner date with 남편 (the husband)!

Need to utilise my soon-to-be-expired OC vouchers by 8 February so we decided to go check out the restaurants in OC.  Also a 'lil celebration with my 남편 for all the good news we received in the month of January!

I was having a sudden craving for Korean food due to overloading of <Running Man> variety shows and the current <黄色复仇草> drama series... still drama-mama-ing at eposide 59th (halfway through thou' they have total 108 eposides!) but I think I can marathon-ed the whole drama-mama during my one-week CNY break!  And that explained the dinner date with my 남편 at Sarang!

Sarang means love - Imma also decked in love-prints cardigan!

Sarang was having some 50% promotion on the selected wines and ah Thiang, who never fail to order alcoholic beverages, ordered a bottle of some berry Korean wine. *gan bei!*  We ordered a portion of kimchi that was alittle too sweet for ah Thiang's liking and my favorite spicy rice cake (really spicy at the end of the meal) for sides and beef short ribs and BBQ pork belly for mains.  I personally prefer the pork over the beef but ah Thiang is the opposite.  HA!

It was abit pricey for a tableful of dishes (btw, the size of the table also very small) with small portion.  Our bill chocked to about S$105 before discount.  Nevertheless, we will come back to try out other dishes or even dine outside the bar counter and enjoy the breeze!  :)

Pre-CNY Reunion with the Gals!

04 February 2013

Hello February!

Last weekend before CNY!  Roar roar roar... hiss Hiss HISS! (It's the Snake year btw...)  Finally done with all the spring cleaning... and now left with changing new sets of bedsheets, sending the quilt cover to laundry and I am all ready for CNY!  Oh.  Not forgetting to bao Ang Bao (our first Ang Bao-giving for the very first year!)... some chore that I am very excited to do but saving all excitment till CNY eve!

Lou hei with Hui, Jade and Paul; Best girls-get-together session to kick start the year!  Such a pity that Gloria and Juay cannot make it, if not it would be the bestestest get-together lo.  Most of their partners cannot make therefore the reunion turned out to be a girls night out instead.  :)

Lou hei at Peach Garden at Chinatown Point!  And boy, we are feasting like we are attending somebody's Jade's wedding banquet!  (she's the only one left on the shelf now!)  *teeheee*

A sumptuous feast that consisted of lou hei, shark's fin soup, fillet of sea perch, abalone, king prawn, sesame glutinous rice ball and 年糕!  We paid a heffy price of S$68 per pax (I think now everywhere lou hei also comes in this pricing...) but it's all so worth it cos we had so much to talk about and catch up throughout the dinner!  It's the company that counts - TRUE?  Truely.  20 years of friendship... still counting!  Huart ah!
