Our Couple Date with Popa & Moma!

28 May 2012

We spent the whole Sunday with Popa & Moma.  Lunch, GSS shopping, visiting the Vintage CARvinal at Orchard Central (vintage cars showcased by Kombirocks) and dinner to end the weekend.  Looked as thou we are having a couple date!  Heeee....

It was lunch at Itacho Sushi at Ion.  Made Moma queue while we make our way from MRT station to Ion (mm... we weren't late, they were early... heee!).  Search for the best sushi is over!  Very nice sushi(s)... definetly will come back for more MORE MORE!  The table of 5 next to us, ordered like over 40pcs of salmon sushi(s).  YUMS!

We visited Vintage CARnival (some showcase of vintage cars at the mall with car boot sales by some celebrities... met Kombi Ang Bao and the folks even took picture with her!).  ++newlyweddfeelinisback++  Afterwhich, we stopby at Uniqlo and did little shopping (bought some tops and boxers cheap... S$16.90 for two and material is good too. good buy! can buy!) before we head down to Central for some tasty ramen to end the weekend.  ++lifesgood++  :)

How many of us still do shopping, window shopping and lunch + dinner with your folks?  I hope to have more of such dates in time to come when I get back from my upcoming work trips within the region.  More travelling for this quarter (starting tomorrow, first trip for the year...  Indonesia, here I come!) before I can start penning down plans and where to go for our honeymoon next!  ++busymonthsahead++  Starting to missing ah Thiang already.  Booooo!

HXDA Gathering!

26 May 2012

After my long week at an off-site meeting (quarterly sales meeting)... it's meet the HXD session!  Thomas jio-ed the gang for dinner and also to hand us his wedding invitation.  I did RSVP-ed to attend their chruch wedding but unfortunately I cannot make it due to clashes of dates when I have to travel to Thailand for work.  This time, I have two exhibitions setup/tear down back to back in the upcoming weeks.  So I send the Tan's representative, ah Thiang for the church wedding instead.  :(

Dinner venue is at Changi Point and we had eggs for dinner!  FWOAH.  Eggs and berries; expecting lotsa eggs combi just by reading the name of the restaurant... refer to the below pictures > I picked the poached eggs with pink fish (it's salmon lah, pretending to be punny... what pink fish!), ah Thiang ordered some steak that comes with poached eggs too... the rest ordered some spag with poached eggs, some BIG breakfast thingy with scrambled eggs...

Anyways, it was also a birthday treat for Joe's birthday next Monday!  Weeeeee!  ++popsconfetti++  Then followed by a short kopi-session before all of us head home to hit the sack.  Papa Joe was sleepy throughout the dinner and dozing off during the kopi-session while his little Xuan Xuan still actively hopping on the sofa.  Teeeheee!  ++cutelittleones++  :))

Brunch date with the Gohs!

19 May 2012

Finally made it to Choupinette after much reading about their nice brunch sets!

Parking around Bukit Timah was horrendous.  It took them so long to get a parking lot at the nearby mall... and the brunch date was almost called-off.  So no more meetups / brunch / kopi(s) along Bukit Timah...

Choupinette located at a corner at the junction of Coronation Walk that serves very yummy brunch sets.  Eggs benny sets serves poached eggs with a choice of ham, smoked salmon or spinach on toasted bread and the set comes with a small glass of juice and a hot drink.  Really no regret having brunch here (although we had a long wait for our date to arrive for brunch...)!

I must say, prices are on the high side... S$21/set for two eggs, two pieces of bread and ham/smoked salmon plus two drinks.  Their 'big breakfast' set cost S$19...  The bill coughed out to be about $90+ for a brunch of four-and-a-half (including Widjaya's kids' set).  Price OK not OK?

Mmm, but seems alot of Gen X & Y are here for their brunch (they seemed richer than those days we were still youngsters...).  Last time we where have the money to splurge on such meals one... at most is McDees after school or weekend breakfast paid for using our own pocket moneyde wor!  #thosewerethedayswhenwearestillkids

After brunch, it was an impromptu trip to Har Par Villa with the Gohs!  I was caught off guard and did not bring my anti-sun weapon out!  Lucky me, I wore long sleeves... but will still try to take cover every now and then within the shades while treaking along the hillsteps.  Heeee!

It didn't take long for us to 'complete' the tour.  Halfway through, everyone was complaining HOT... and went for a much-needed water break at a nearby god-forsaken canteen.  There you find old vending machine, dispensing NON-chilled can drinks!  ++HOW can it be happening on sucha HOT HOT HOT Saturday++  Don't think we will be back to continue the '18 Level Hell' tour anytime soon...  Heh!  Surprised that there are still fair bit of new visitors strolling into the villa that caught my eyes while we make our way out to the carpark...  MmMmm, what are theses people thinking...?  Either STB is doing a good job or the tour information hasn't been updated somewhere somehow...  :P

Converse Summer Rooftop Party!

18 May 2012

ah Thiang and I were invited to Converse Summber Collection, a rooftop party hosted by Nookmag (Thanks to Sim Cik for the invitation!).  Event venue at Breeze (rooftop lounge) at The Scarlet Hotel.  A not so breezy evening at the Breeze... but ah Thiang had his heatness cooled off by 'unlimited' free flow of beers throughout the event.  He was so-called pull off as staff of the agency to participate the beer-drinking-competition.  ++Heh++

All participants get a pair of Converse Slippers and winner walked away with 2-pairs!  That ang-mo, the Converse boss... WON.  --__--"  (Why would he want so many pairs of slippers... my ah Thiang came second in the competition... but no slippers for him.  Boooo!  :P)

Gonna hit the sack NOW > ah Thiang has finally KO from his flipping and tossing on bed after numberous mugs of beer!

Brunch date with the Gohs' tomorrow at Choupinette!  ++YUMS++

At the Breeze / Setup of the event / ah Thiang, Veny & Grace at the reception / Cam-whoring before the beer-drinking-competition

Of Celebrations!

14 May 2012

Celebrating Papa-in-law's Birthday, Mr & Mrs Arthur Tan's two-months Wedding Anniversary and Mother's Day over the weekend!

I read so much about Food for Thought @ SAM and somewhat decided to give it a shot after my hair appointment last Saturday.  We took a really long walk from Funan to Singapore Art Museum... (forgot why we didn't choose to take bus instead!).  The place stands out as a homely feel (felt very warm... HOT... barely any aircon!!!) with some merchandises for purchase (like old-skool tutu cake in magnets... good morning towels made into bib & plastic bags...)... but in terms of food?  Still having second thoughts about returning, really.  I must say, I will consider return to try their brunch instead.  Luckily didn't jio the Yeos for dinner.  ++PHEW++

After the lousy dinner, we met up Yeo for movie and McDees (just before the movie)...  OK, the movie <Dark Shadows> wasn't that scary as the posters and not as funny as what ah Thiang described, nevertheless I fell asleep 3/4-way through...  SLEPT.  TOO TIRED!  Think I am getting too old for mid-night shows.  Boooo!

I bought flowers for both my Mama(s) and my ex-room mate on Mother's Day!  So happy that I managed to get three stalks (each to them) from a nearby florist and it didn't cost more than S$3/each stalk (I am expecting each stalk to cost like ten over bucks like how we are "carrot-ed" during Valentine's Day)!

We had home-made shabu shabu!!!  First time baby Bro offered to buy all ingredients and I only need to pay!  Not sure if it was overdose of shabu shabu, I developed sorethroat and fever the same night...  I am on MC for the next two days.  Time to pay off my next sleep debt!  Hopefully I don't have too many urgent stuffs to clear when I return to work.  :(

Happy Birthday Yeo!

07 May 2012

Finally back with some updates on this little space of mine!

Today is Yeo's birthday; Happy birthday Donald! May god bless you on your birthday and everyday in everyway.

I heard so much about dining at Five & Dime and finally, we've got our craving fixed!  Few days back we had our advance birthday celebration for Yeo and I even gotten the restaurant to craft out "Happy Birthday" message onto his surprise desserts.  The guys were going huuuhaaaa over the hand-written messages...

I personally ordered the Mentaiko pasta for my main and the guys ordered the pathetic serving of Macaroni and cheese (that explains the next dine out place we went right after the dinner!!!)...  Jessie ordered the Kurobuta pork belly soba, and I must say this is main is a MUST-try, smelt and tasted the nicest among all our mains.  We even made special request to have the kitchen to prepare us a serving of fish & chips de CHIPS > and they were called Tempura Fries (cost us TEN bucks!).  Teeheee....!  Food was so-so, and I think I will go back to try their brunch... their eggs benny!  :)  ++Yums++

We pigged out in an Italian restaurant along Zion Road right after Five & Dime... look at the table full of starters and desserts!  The waiter was stunned by the way we order from the menu and forgo-ing the mains.  He was puzzled and asked: "Errr, all serve together?  Any mains???"  So I replied casually that these people already "jiak ba lo" and he still gave us that stunned look...  HAHA!

Jessie has just started blogging and that explains why she is taking alittle bit more of OUR time to snap the foodies before we can start pigging out.  By giving her and her blog full support, we will give her 'extra' exposures in her food-tographery... stay tune and spot us!  :P

The rest of my weekend was catching The Avengers, napping away and dim sum date with my folks.  Plan for the next few weekends is to pen down on ALL the places I want to visit/stay for our honeymoon... am left with like freaking five months of planning before my honeymoon dreams can be materialized.  USA or Europe?  F&E or group tours?  OHBOYOHBOY!  :(
