Excursion with Bishan Home's Residents!

25 March 2013

Sharing my first experience in participating an excursion with the residents from Bishan Home organized by Bishan CC YEC - one word; CHALLENGING.

Yes, my second time doing volunteering work.  The group chartered a bus and brought the residents to Singapore Flyer (initial plan was also to visit Gardens by the Bay too but due to the scorching weather and time constrain, we only managed to visit one location but that means we have the next time to bring them out!) and we had lunch at the Singapore Food Trail before sending them back to the home.

ah Thiang was allocated to another capsule - so just the three of us! / View from our capsule! / The capsule of us! / Careen and me / Sim Cik and me / My partner Moi and me (she was a woman of very little words... very cool okay, hardly wanna join us to take photo - see, she didn't even wanna smile! I think she likes to sing coz I heard her humming to a tune on the ride back!) / Group photo - total about 40 of us!

Saturday brunch-out at Food for Thought at Botanic Gardens after volunteering with the Bishan Home and also managed to update a blog post in the evening after I 'replenished' my beauty sleep!  #meaningful Saturday!

"It's never about how much you have but how much you can give... Thanks y'all for helping out!" - quoted by Sim Cik  *psssst, thanks for the treat too, Sim Cik!

Sticky Bones at Morganfield's

23 March 2013

On Friday, Ah Thiang has a dinner date with his E.D (there goes his Friday with us again!) at ah Hai's place so I went to meet up with the Yeo's to have dinner and go thru the itinerary for our upcoming Taiwan trip while the missus went for her zumba - we very hardworking OKAY, googled the places listed in the first draft of the tour itinerary then print-screen and shortlist where is must-go and where we can give-a-miss!  Done.  So now, it's the tour agency's job is to revise our schedule and squeeze in more free time for us on the last two days in Taipei!  :)

We then had dinner at Star Vista (where the Yeo's has been dining out for the past week after their PT) saying must try the Morganfield's coz they liked their sticky bones, bascially pork ribs lah!  Ok, food portion was HUGE and their corn muffins were good too!  We ordered a platter for 3 but I ta-baoed almost half slab of the rack back!  The dessert lava cake was sinfully good but we didn't managed to finish it... overloaded with the portion from the platter.

How cute that is the giant bib I wore - It says "Busy eating, please do not disturb"!!!  I almost ta-bao back together with the half slab of rack!  :P

Crab Feasting with 阿公!

18 March 2013

Last Saturday was "recalled" to Granny's house because one of the distant-grand aunt from the States was in town, leaving to Malaysia on Sunday before she en route back to the States in May.  So.  I thought we were invited to add "legs" for the games of mahjong but only knew that the bets were much higher than we normally play so we were there only to show our presence.  :(  My baby bro already "ended his shift" when we got therer at 5pm and Popa was still at the table 血枰-ing with the ladies since 11am!  The last I heard that the whole session of 5 rounds ended at about 10pm and Popa won S$400 - hey, that's a good income for a Saturday alone!  *pops confetti*

Anyways, since it's dinner time and we are not having dinner with the grand aunt (who was so busy making eyes contact with the mahjong tiles, so不舍得 to leave the table for dinner... 阿婆 who has to stay home to tend the players' needs and eating dinner which Moma ta-baoed for the players)... we brought 阿公 out for dinner!

It just made my day when I see him changed so quickerly after I told him we are going out for dinner (coz sometimes he just don't wanna eat-out unless there are some special occassions).  We went to nearby walking distance 螃蟹之家 for some crab feast - something he enjoys and his appetite for that evening was good too!  *beams*

We ended our Saturday evening with a comedy movie - The Incredible Burt Wonderstone at Plaza Singapura!  Such a great way to spend my Saturday, having dinner with my family and catching movies with my loved one.  :)  *blessed*

New outlet at Joo Chiat Road / Me 阿公 and 阿母!/ Our usual dishes including my 阿母's favorite mee goreng! / 主角上场 - 辣椒螃蟹 with the special embossed steam bun!  *too cute*

一周年快乐!

13 March 2013

It was our 1st Wedding Anniversary celebration at Dozo Restaurant.  I have been meaning to check this place out after much reading on the reviews online and did a two weeks advance reservation!

The set menu comes with 7-course at S$59.90 per pax that comes with starter of the day, welcome drink and choice of 2 appetisers, followed by a main, dessert and drinks.  Selection was generous including foie gras and escargots - everything was well presented!

Welcome drinks to cleanse our taste buds / Our starters - foie gras and smoked salmon and scallop, foie gras chawamushi / king crab claw salad!

Then was the crab bisque soup / baked garlic escargots / hot-stone beef and pork cheek for mains / molten lava chocolate cake and some pudding (not very nice) and dessert drinks!  Cheers to many years ahead!

Our anniversary special - we took many shots of it!  Feeling so shy, coz was asked to make a pose of us kissing and blowing of the candle by the waiter wor...  *BLUSHED*

We bought a pair of golden bands as anniversary gifts, engraved with our wedding date for keepsake and target to collect one pair every each year!  :)

我们的纪念日,祝周年快乐!

2013 张信哲『空出来的时间』世界巡回演唱会!

11 March 2013

One of the highlights in March was that we (Aunty, Susan, Jessie and I) attended Taiwanese balladeer, 2013 Jeff Chang's world tour concert, last Saturday!  I have forgo attending Jay Chou's due to the sky-high concert ticket pricing but I still can afford going to Jeff Chang's concert.  Hehe.

不亏是情歌王子 - because I couldn't "catch" him when he sang fast-paced song, the image doesn't match him leh... but nonetheless, 他是帅的咯...  LOL!

Here are some photos of the highlights of his concert:

Andy & Jessica 的大喜之日!

11 March 2013

又是一个幸福的星期天!

Remember the couple friend whom was linked up last September?  They tied the knot yesterday!  恭喜老爷,贺喜夫人!

We were invited to their wedding solemnization ceremony and luncheon buffet held at The Fullerton Hotel.  Had the chance to popby to their wedding suite which was a loft unit, making ah Thiang & I very excited because we get to 'explore' how high is the height of a loft unit (before getting our unit)!

Below are some of the wedding highlights:

Vis-à-Vis French Restaurant

09 March 2013

ah Thiang was recommended to this French Restaurant by his new E.D on Monday for some corporate dinner (actually a welcome dinner for his new E.D) and he suggested this long-time French restuarant located in the west, which is now currently shifted to Jalan Kembagan.  No problem finding the place, we have our live-GSP aka Yeo to do the driving (he also uses his GPS lah...).  :P

Jeremy, the boss of the restaurant promised a complimentary bottle of wine if he go back so ah Thiang made a reservation for Friday's dinner right after he is done with dinner with his E.D and text us about the dinner date!  Anyways, he kept praising how nice is the beef he ate and wanted so badly for us to try so... cheers to the free bottle of red wine!  *YAY*

It was a 4-course French cuisine... with a starter of king prawn, then main with a choice of tenderloin or fish (of course we chose the cow lah...) and dessert with coffee/tea - S$49++ per pax. We top off with a bowl of French onion soup each (... I must say each bowl cost S$12.80 which price is on the high side), then a serving of foie gras (ah thiang says the foie gras is not fatty enough wor...) and parma ham and a platter of cheese to share. The boss also gave us each some home-made chocolate and strawberry truffles - so yummy!

Oh man, I cannot forget their home-made éclair, the filling is not the usual custard or vanilla cream but it's mango cream.  Each éclair was drenched with very not-so-sweet chocolate sauce that makes the best combi ever.  It's the bomb - I'm falling in love love love with it!  我对它念念不忘! I wanna go back buy their éclair!!!  :)
