August Spree!

19 August 2012

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri!  (enjoying holidays for today and tomorrow...!)  Whoopwhoopwhoop.

My birthday pressie for this year came late (two months overdue but better than no come, right?) and I thought I can get myself something during my honeymoon spree but I guessed this is pretty much expensive-er from what I have expected.

It was chanced upon a discussion last weekend with my future SIL on why she is having a breakout on her chins and she explained it might be the use of Clarisonic (perhaps face was too clean after using the brush and causing the breakouts...) and I told her I heard so much raves about the wonders of this brush and will most propably check it out when I am in US to buy too!

So.  Cut the story short...  ah Thiang googled and researched on the cleansing brush with good reviews and he brought me to Sephora the next day to check out this magic brush.  Over the dinner, he decided we he will buy in SG instead so that we he save the hassle of warranty and exchanges issues over the purchase in US although you get them in US for USD149 (1yr warranty) and S$249 from Sephora with a 2yr warranty which is cheaper by S$60...  So we he kinda trade-off the differences in price as the second year warranty for the unit.  Well, guessed I have already have plans in getting the brushes in US... this should be at least 40% off SG pricing!  Yes.  It was a Clarisonic for my this year's birthday pressie!  I did not forget the giant peanut butter cupcake too.  :)  So loved.

Since this is a birthday pressie, I got the sales assistant to gift-wrapped for me and I skinned them apart the moment I got home... just to charge the unit for the next 24hrs for first time use.  #cheapthrills  Me still trying to get used to using a brush while cleaning my face...  :P

It was another weekend dinner date with the Yeo's and he wanted to check out the new mall, JCube in Jurong (but we only managed to explored Francfranc store and the whole mall was closed by the time we finished our shopping!).

We kick-start the long weekend having dinner at Itacho after a good queue of 20mins.  Lacking of service staffs, food selection in the menu was so-so, food also so-so... so, not coming back anytime soon... not worth the queue.

But spree-ing at Francfranc was pretty much exciting to shout about!  I was happily snapping up the plates, mugs, forks, spoons, coasters and table mats on the shelves (not many lah, only 4 sets of each)...  With 40% (or some only 20% discount) storewide plus additional 10%, I totally went crazy!  ah Thiang was very encouraging thou'.  "You sure?  Enough?  How about this... how about that...  Take lor... buy lor."  These were all what he said in store to me! (prease... can he practise the same when we go for our honeymoon spree in two months time, preaseeeee?)  Total damage was slightly over S$300 (with discount somemore!) and he paid for it!  Imagine how much we he will bleed if there is no discount (if no discount, we propably will not buy a single item!?!)?  HAHA.  So, no need imagine.  Will temporary store them in my 娘家 till I stock up more Disney products in the upcoming trip and 'transfer' them over when our new home is ready.  WOW WOW.  Can't wait for the day to come so that I can decorate our home with all my Mickey mouses and Jay Chou displays!!!  #evil

Happy Birthday to our sengseng-O!

13 August 2012

Celebrated my baby brother's birthday last weekend with the family!  He just turned 21st 28th this year!!!

We went back Sakuraya Fish Mart for more freshess-ness!  Order more stuffs this time... more sashimi, hotate, saba, soba, udon, maki and more!  Popa and Moma liked the otopus alot and we had two portions.  Bill choked up to S$150 for 7pax.  I think the price is reasonable as the last round we had with the Goh's was about S$70-ish already!  Naise.  We will be back with the Yeo's the next round.  :)

After dinner, we sang birthday song and had cakes at Toby's the Dessert Asylum, located 2nd floor next to Nike store.  Service was not up to our standard (we very 'green-vege' liao, but the service level simply sucks... long story short, we propably won't be coming back!).  Had a lil' shopping before Papa-inlaw came to send us home (they were on the way back from Punggol, after transporting a over 10-year old antique microwave in baby blue!>_>"  LOL!

Happy 47th Birthday, Singapore!

09 August 2012

Loving Singapore, Our Home!

Happy National Day!

This year's National Day was celebrated differently from past years... because we are celebrating together as Mr & Mrs Arthur Tan... (haha, any/every event after 12 March 2012 is celebrated differently from the past years.  BLEH!).  Anyways, ah Thiang joined YEC this year so we get to participate events organized by the community centre (why we still no get to go watch NDP live at the floating platform?!?!) and he bought tickets to the National Day Observance Ceremony!

Had to wake up as early as 6am because the event starts at 7am!  Koaz, I don't even get to wake up as early as that on my workdays.  And I woke up late (that explained the latter...).  We took a cab down and when we got there, all the senior citizens were warming up for their Bishan East walk (and the caterers were just setting up the place!).  >_<"  We didn't had the energy to join them... and SMS-ed SimCik what time he is reaching so that we can go breakfast together!  MUAHAHAHA!  We had McDonalds.  BIG breakfast.  :)

After our breakfast (the Goh's were still preparing to leave the house!), we walked back to the event and we are in time for the flag raising ceremony after the guest-of-honour, Mr Wong Kan Seng's arrival.  I almost teared while singing of the national anthem.  Always felt so emo during this moment.  So touching and so glad that I am a Singaporean.  #iamsingaporean  wtf.  Reunited with the Goh's after the ceremony and we saw 吴家的第二个宝,Widyana (rare occassions that she was brought out of the house!).  ah Thiang was so happy 'bonding' with her.

We went brunch (the Goh's breakkie) at J8 and took a walk back to the house to chat... then suggested to go I12Katong to eat the lao bak sai Popiah and Laska.  But sadly when I woke up from my car-nap (fell asleep lah, woke up at 6am leh!), we landed in Parkway Parade for the lao bak sai Mee Rebus and later learnt that the foodcourt was going thru some renovation and the stall was no longer to be found!  Haiz, 赔了夫人 (popiah) 又择宾 (mee rebus)!Luckily we get to try another lao bak sai sashimi restaurant located at basement 1, inside a Japanese supermarket!  Bestest-ed, afforadable and freshest-est sashimi ever tasted.  So mouth-watering and the udon also yum yum!  ah Thiang bought a bottle of sake from the supermarket for tonight's gathering at my aunty's house and I bought bak kua and popcorns for the family too!

Cathing the NDP telecast live at aunty house with the family and again, almost teared while singing of the national anthem.  Cannot believe myself, I so 爱国!Majam only!  We ordered pizza hut which took them 90mins to deliver, luckily we have our bak kua and popcorns to tahan the hungry-ness.  And not forgetting the bottle of sake to toast the night of celebration.

Had an eventful day today and looking forward to this weekend as it is gona be another eventful, funfilled-ful and whatever-ful weekend; celebrating my baby bro's birthday and meeting up with the HXDA gang for a dim sum brunch (plus receiving red-bomb from the Quah's and propably pop-over to catch The Peak's view from his unit).

Simply cannot contain my upcoming weekend's excitement.  YAY!

Celebrating National Day in Advance!

06 August 2012

Had a lazy Saturday afternoon kopi-ing with ah Thiang at Kith Cafe located at Park Mall before going to the bean bag chairs showroom to test-sit on their various bean bag chairs (... ah Thiang has been eye-ing to buy!).  Not decided if we will get one... but can see ah Thiang is VERY keen indeed.

We then headed down to meet the Goh's at Bishan open field for the Bishan East 47th National Day celebration dinner!  He has previously bought a table-ful of seats and so kind to invite us over to join this celebration.  It has a over 200-tables of guest/residents and the guest-of-honour is Mr Wong Kan Seng (I only learnt that his name rythms as "wong can't sing" when he was invited to sing a song on stage!  Hilarious!!).  Sim Cik was a lucky man.  He won the 60th something prize - a miniature Tai Hwa Premium Soya Sauce and a S$40 Wing Tai shopping vouchers!  Lucky indeed (but I am the one paid attention to the calling out of lucky draw numbers!  HEH!!)

1-1 Sunday breakfast at Marche Bar & Bistro at Raffles City Shopping Centre (newly revamped their eatery outlets).  Good deal as their 'big breakfast' cost about the same price or slightly cheaper than McDees after calculating the 1-1 deal per pax.  However, they are really lacking of service staffs on the floor... I have to take my own tea spoon, tissues and olive oil blah blah blah.

WOW WOW!  Booked our "哈密月" at the Travel Fair in Suntec after our breakfast!  We were there from 1-4pm and changed our travel dates twice!  Simply cannot contain the excitement of just the thoughts of spending Halloween in Disneyland!  +++ghostcalls.... wohoooooooo+++  Will be meeting up with Enda for outlets shopping when we get there!  Now working hard on our plans for extension stay in LA and do stop-overs in HK.  *HEADACHE*  How how??  Why HK hotels are so expensive?!?!?!

Anyhoots....  Three more days to Singapore 47th National Day!  Welcoming the holidays!  YAY!
