Happy birthday to my Papa-inlaw and HAPPY MOMA'S DAY!
Yesterday celebrated advanced Papa-inlaw's birthday and Moma's Day with the parents-inlaw! For the first time... we brought our folks for a musical play! This masterpiece took 12 years to produce and 3 years to gather all talents and designers across China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Argentina and Singapore to complete. Musical play was adapted from the Taiwan movie 《搭错车》 with Su Rui's classic hits such as 〈一樣的月光〉...
Some how coincidental that my Papa-inlaw also used to bring his parents for this movie which was screened many decades ago in Singapore and when ah Thiang learnt that this movie has now it's own version of musical play weeks back, he also bought the tickets and bring his parents for the play!
Sucha sad and touching storyboard... I almost teared (luckily I wore water-proof eyeliner!)... Imma an emo creature okay! I hoped the folks enjoyed the musical play as much as we did. My Papa-inlaw has love for steaks and we made reservations at Hippopotamus for yummy steaks for dinner to complete this joyous celebrations!
About the story:
《搭錯車》是以台北市信義路眷村為背景著名歌舞電影，1983年在臺灣上映，台灣MV風氣可謂濫觴於本片。由虞戡平導演，黃百鳴、吳念真編劇，铁孟秋制片，演員包括孫越、江霞、吳少剛、劉瑞琪、李立群（一人分飾兩角，即啞叔的同袍阿滿，以及與女主角阿美一起長大、阿滿的兒子阿明），幕後配唱則由蘇芮擔任，當時仍是學生的何篤霖在結局時擔任全身涂滿金漆近乎半裸的舞者。
此片在1983年第二十屆金馬獎入圍最佳男主角（孫越）、最佳女配角（江霞）等十一項大獎提名，最後奪得最佳男主角、最佳原作音樂、最佳插曲、最佳錄音等4項大獎，虞戡平導演對江霞在片中精湛，令人動容的演出卻未能奪得最佳女配角一獎，深感遺憾，二十餘年後在該片於電視台重播所做的回顧訪談中仍耿耿於懷，認為「她應該得獎的」。該片創下新台幣4千餘萬元高票房；侯德健、李壽全、羅大佑與吳念真等人創作的電影音樂主題曲及插曲〈酒矸倘賣無〉、〈一樣的月光〉、〈請跟我來〉至今仍廣泛流行。《搭錯車》電影原聲大碟也是中文流行音樂史最重要及最出色的作品，這張唱片和羅大佑的專輯《之乎者也》一起被視為校園民歌時代和現代流行歌曲時代的分水嶺。
Uncle Ya, a mute rag-and-bone man, is always hopeful for the day happiness will arrive. His dull and lonely life takes a turn when he hears the cries of an abandoned baby in the alley one morning. Being showered with Uncle Ya's fatherly love, the baby blossoms into a beautiful young lady, Ah Mei. Father and daughter lived a simple yet blissful life. Gifted with the voice of an angel, Ah Mei is eventually discovered by a famous record company producer and shoots to stardom swiftly. While Ah Mei lives in her dream, a glass has unknowingly formed between her and the people she loves. her beloved father, her lover, her best childhood friend, her hometown and the simple life she used to lead are slowly slipping away.
