Growing up with Nathaniel; Week127-136

11 August 2016

Week 136!

Poor boy has been down with cough and pro-long fever which leads to middle ear infection and fever game still going strong the next days. We went back PD for the second time in the same week and was diagnosed with influenza virus! (meaning he did not attend school for two weeks already!) We have to force-feed him two types of antibiotics and initially I started to 'intro' chocolates and offer to give him each time after medication but this only works 1st time and for the subsequence time, he even rejected to having to eat his favourite M&M so that he won't have to eat his medication. #failedmom I even heard some kids wanting to eat medication so that they can have their chocolates wor... why mine not like dis?

Anyways, after many attempts of force-feeding... I am now a champion to having to "springe" the medicine into his mouth without him spilling it out. *cue victory signs* Of course, this is team work. Your partner has to "giap" him and tilt his head upwards so I can hold his jaw and springe the medicine into this mouth/throat. #missionpossible But I won't do it on normal medication like fever or cough - too painful to see him struggle like this...

He talks a lot more, forming more words into sentences... Imma impressed! Below are some of the mini conversation I managed to pen it down for my reading pleasure! LOL!

Nat: Nice, new leg.
Then he saw my earrings...
Nat: Nice, new ear.

Week130
Nat: Papa, I'm not done yet... Papa, are you ready?

While surfing YouTube videos and came across videos of Thomas the train...
Nat: Mama no like Thomas the train.
Me: Yes, let's change another video. *tries to click another video*
Nat: Noooo...

Nat: Mama, Mama, I poo poo...
Me: Ok, let's go change diaper...
After 2mins in the room, still standing playing Lego on the table...
Me: You no lie down, how I change your diaper?
Nat: I lie down, how to play?

Papa: Can I have 1 小馒头 please?
Nat: Hmmmmm...
Papa: Can you give 1 to Mama?
Nat: Sorry (softly) *continues to feed himself*

Nat was watching iPad at the hall when Papa came home knocking at the door...
Me: Nat Nat, go open the door for Papa.
Nat: I'm watching iPad...

Nat: I don't like Joshua.
Me: I like James, do you like James?
Nat: I like James.
Me: I like Logan, do you like Logan?
Nat: I like Logan also.

Week134
When he sees adults raising voices at each other...
Nat: 爷爷, no scold 奶奶。

When I was ka chiao-ing him while he was watching iPad...
Nat: Mama no disturb.

爷爷 and 奶奶 was arguing on the correct Chinese naming of honeydew...
Nat: 奶奶, no shouting.

He's trying to story-telling during bedtime...
Nat: Once for a time, a kokodile in the jungle...
Me: *giggles*, once for.a.time... not once upon a time... (quietly)

Teaching him to use fingers to express numbers...
Nat: Do my fingers.

Gave him tomato sticks on the journey to school after recovering from epic fever ordeal... he returned the pack to me after 2nd stick...
Nat: No want, wait I cough cough.

On the way home, he points at "H" logo...
Nat: What iz this?
爷爷: Honda.
Nat: Clever 爷爷。

Milestones from Week 127-136;

Week 127 - he learns to assemble / build train tracks and play by himself...
He poured porridge onto himself, drenching himself and has to be washed up before going home. On the way back, he fussed at the MRT station and cried for milk before dinner time - 8/6/2016 ++ he has occasionally brought up this incident and bitting of his classmate C and since remembered this has happened for weeks already... ++
No school from 10-13/6/2016 - diagnosed with stomach flu; vomited 4 times, 1 time after visited PD, 1 time + diarrhoea-ed 4 times on Saturday and diarrhoea-ed 3 times on Sunday...
He took down his own diapers when told to get ready for bath time - 14/6/2016...
Act of 耍赖；姨婆 brought him down to mama-shop to buy "eggs" and he requested for two eggs. After she paid money and left the shop, she reminded him that Papa only allow to buy 1 egg. Upon reaching home, he handed over 1 egg to her to hold before he enters the door - 19//6/2016...
Week 133 - he can hold on longer to his surprise eggs before opening them...
No school from 25/7-5/8 - fever developed on 24/6, followed by chesty coughs and fever for the next 3 days... visited PD on 27/7 diagnosed with middle ear infection, to be fed with 7days antibiotics. Fever did not go off and re-visited PD on 30/7 diagnosed with influenza virus and prescribed with 2nd type of 5days antibiotics. Review for clearance on 4/8 and fit for school... finally!
Week 135/136 - he starts to sing song during bedtime and sleeping throughout the night...

03 June - A visit to Papa's office on Papa's company family day. Nat picks up the phone and say "halo, police come" and hang up. #week126 #thingsnathanielsays
