Down with Dengue!

30 July 2014

Month of July just flew passed in a blink of my eye.  Yes.  I was down with dengue and on medical leave for the past two weeks.  No joke - I can die you know... and thinking that my darling baby N is only 6 months old... how to bear to leave him behind... so scary!  But now I am into the road of recovery... and I have to recover fast fast because I am going on a holiday soon!

Last night ah Thiang saying whether he wanna book the sweet deals (two to go) or flying solo for his Beijing trip next month... of course book the sweet deals lah (no need ask de right...)!  I was so excited and couldn't sleep and at the same time feeling uber guilty as I will be leaving my baby N behind... booohoooo!  *wtf*

  • 15 July - feeling super awful and body aching all over (baby N also happen to be feverish at the same time, but it subsided the next day... maybe due to teething...)!
  • 16 July - seen doctor and got a two days mc...
  • 18 July - came back office to submit something urgent then wonder why my fever did not subside despite eating days of Panadol.  Did blood test and result should be out the next day morning but clinic did not call and I continued to be awful for the rest of the weekend...
  • 21 July - called clinic about my blood test result and I was told the result came Dengue positive and asked to go SGH A&E (dang, I should have gone to Raffles hospital!!!!).  The doctors poked me with more needles for blood test and put on drip but still won't admit me and made me waited at the A&E department together with full of trolleys of patients waiting for their admission.  After hours, I was asked to go back and rest and given a 6-days hospitalization leave and told to go for blood test every alternate days.  Moved back to Mama's place to recuperate and my very very thoughtful ah Thiang brought baby N, MIL and Jessie to visit me in the later evening... with more 100+ drink, thermometer and fever patch!  *scored more love points*
  • 23 July - did another round of blood test before going home (results show signs of increasing in the count of platelet)!
  • 26 July - yet another round of blood test to check if I am fit to go back work after the Hari Raya holidays...  Doctor gave me another day mc since the result will only be out on Tuesday morning...
  • 30 July - yes, back to reality!  Cannot get used to not waking up early for the past two weeks... *yawns*

The persistent fever that won't go away...!

At SGH A&E 'trolley' waiting for admission...

Face-timing with both my darlings - part I (missing my snuggle bug badly...)

Face-timing with both my darlings - part II (so jelly here seeing ah Thiang has all the attention from baby N!)

Marks from the blood tests after blood tests...

The after-math from Dengue; THE RASH!  *itch die me!*

Growing up with Nathaniel; Day177-Day191

14 July 2014

Moving into week 28!

Recording his milestones from week 25 to week 27...

  1. he is already slowly but surely adjusting to solids now... taking 1-2 tsp cereal/feed - I heard it's normal for such small appetite as I'm expecting him to consume in half bowls of cereal for each feed (so such small servings will last for another 1-2 weeks...).  Now starting to eat some "instant" purees like Carrot, Apple, Just Veggies (like mix of spinach, sweet corn, sweet potato, carrot) and banana porridge!  I liked banana porridge... taste not too bad!  ;-)
  2. starting to crawl (moves very significantly)...!
  3. slowly to be able to sit up without support (sometimes still leaning forward abit while he is seated on the playmat...) - tried sitting on baby Joel's high chair and he sits quite 'steadily'...
  4. he knows his name is Nathaniel... (I've tried calling out Peter, David, Steven and any other names and he simply doesn't respond to it until I called out Nathaniel again then he turned to me... oh, my cleber boy!)

#day184 - training him to sit up with some support!

#day189 - graduating from his last session of swim & spa!

#day189 - met up with the Yeo's for dinner at Quayside Isle @ Sentosa Cove and bring baby N for a stroll.  Does he looked like the potential yacht owner?

#day190 - Sundays with my baby (this is how the Daddy wear his hat for him...)!

#day190 - At Munic's new pad gathering!  Trying out on baby Joel's high chair...!  Haha, like every time go other people's house try their toys/stuffs de...  (I tell you ahh... baby Joel's toys are more power than Hamburger's... Munic & Gerine almost converted the whole room into a mini playground - got slide, swing, playpen, mini bouncer and a pool of colourful balls + other toys and and and outside in the hall parked his cars and kitchen set!  I tell you.... *shake head*, not going to happen to my house for sure!)

#day190 - ... when Nathaniel meets Gabrielle!  Look at that cheeky smile... his face is like 2x bigger than the size of baby G!

#day191 - Today's the finals!  Nathaniel woke up in time to watch World Cup final 2014 (Argentina vs Germany, 0-1) with Daddy!  看那眷注的眼神!*charming right?*

*ps: #day191 ends on 14 July 2014

NDP 2014 - Our People, Our Home

07 July 2014

Our people, our home - that's this year's NDP theme!

This year, Singapore marks her 49th year celebrations in commemoration of her independency from Malaysia since 1965!  And and and... this is my 1st year attending the NDP!  Ok!  Even though this is not the actual day parade but we were still very very much excited in attending the first full dress rehearsal nevertheless!  The weather has been very kind - windy, not scorching hot just light sprinkle of droplets towards the end of the performance.  :)

Thank you very much to ah Thiang's camp-mate (whoever that they are...) for giving up the event tickets and we get to jio more friends to join us in this celebration together!  Tell you ah... human beings are one-kind de.  When you don't have tickets, then you kept praying you can go... but you have tickets (as many as TEN...) then nobody is available to go...  tsk!  Luckily we have friends who are very "on" and went with us!

Didn't bring Baby N as we were told no babies (but there was still babies attending the parade leh... one of 'em is Hamburger!  each infant or baby holds one ticket for entry ok... :-S ) but then again we were also glad that we didn't bring Baby N lah (so 矛盾 right), because the transportation and logics were so NOT convenient afterall.  Imagine having to carry him on sling and climbing up 4-5 stories of stairsways then carrying him seated throughout the parade with all the ping ping pong pong and live-firings, with a lot of distractions when feeding him milk and changing of diapers if he poo in a not-baby-friendly environment... gawd, no need to imagine liao...!  Hahaha!

That's the team of us all dressed up in red & white theme (and everyone attending the parade)!

The arrival of the fake President - as part of the simulation, they have someone dressed up and act as the President and other ministers on arrival at the parade...! *noticed this pair of hands with phone... the aunt not tired one leh, kept shovering her hands high high up in the sky to video and take pictures... all my photos have her hands loh! why don't she download the performances via youtube or tv?*

Parade of the uniform teams waiting for the President to walk down for inspection!

Our National flag hovering pass over MBS!  #proudtobesingaporean

The Malaysian reciting the pledge - Ok, meant to tease SimCik not Widjaya because he is a Singaporean.  Then the Sze sisters were asking whether there is any photo taken when the Hongkees are reciting the pledge...?  OOops!  *internal joke*

The performers and everyone at the floating platform singing of Singapore National Anthem!  *everytime I sing National anthem and reciting the pledge until I wanto cry!  so touching loh*

Ending the parade with array of fireworks!

Growing up with Nathaniel; Day170-Day176

01 July 2014

Hello July!

In his week 25!  Starting solids feeding now!

Milestone for week 24... (what we have done to him... hehe!)
  1. first time tasted 洋渗 and his expression is so priceless - no pictures, only took video...
  2. started feeding him with rice cereal (a little bit of carrot+sweet potato puree) then rusk...
  3. starting to move forward with him 喬-ing his backside up (moves like a caterpillar... haha!)...
  4. sat on a walker...
  5. sat on a stroke high chair (so tempted to buy one for him, but the price is so turn-off... S$399+ leh but again, marketing says this chair can sits for life loh)...

#day174 - my first attempt feeding Baby N solids!  好像要了他的命! Tsk. Tsk.

#day174 - the little acrobat strikes (haar. haar. this time I caught him sucking both feet with my iPhone okay... no horse run liao!)

#day174 - this boy is enjoying every single moment chewing up Hamburger's toys (we were having BBQ at Jessica's balcony... and this kept him busy with the toys on the walker he sat on...  Moma saw this picture and immediately call me say want us to buy the walker for him and put at her place!!!)!

#day174 - him on this very pretty pink high chair (again, Hamburger's)!  This chair is too pretty liao right?  My aunt say he looked like he's ready to bungee jump!

#day175 - after rejecting mouthful of rice cereal, we try feeding him with rusk!

#day175 - another birthday shot with my happy pill!  This shot is super duper uber nice right?  Can send in for some parents/motherhood magazine cover contest!  *self-brag*

#day176 - so 巧, him dressed up just like the little bear at his pram!
