Growing up with Nathaniel; Week105-106

15 January 2016

Week 106 !

Embarking on his 2nd year journey... I will record and update his milestones on weekly basis instead by of days...  Well, it also be easier to do the counting by weeks and this shows that me is getting lazy by the days.  :P

PRESCHOOL

We have started preschool for Nat on 6 January right after his 2nd birthday celebrations...

Of course, 1st day of preschool is always easy for both child and parents.  We both took leave to bring him to school and stayed throughout the day to be observers.  There was minimal of crying - when we wasn't with him when he needed to change his diaper, wash hands and bath.  Teachers were there to attend each and every children, maybe he wasn't used to having "strangers" bringing him to change diapers or bathe him and he fussed a bit.  I am sure that they will be best companions to each other in no time.

That's the son, enjoying his bubble party on his 1st day of preschool!

Papa was invisible on 2nd day of presschool.  He hiding at the waiting area between the main entrance and the admin office bio-ing the son through the CCTV from the admin office!  He was seen clingy onto Teacher S who carried him and held his hands to comfort him whenever he cries for Papa or Mama.  He cries when he saw Papa came to his room and fetch him home.  Just like he found his long lost love.  LOL

He was still good when we asked if you like school... but on 3rd day of preschool, we told him we were going to school and asked if he liked school - this time he replied "no want school".  Ok, so his rejection towards going to preschool is getting stronger by the day.  We made a mistake by settling him down at the breakfast table then left him (we should have just drop and go like any other parent... you know, 长痛不如短痛.)  He cried and struggled to get off Teacher S so badly that she has to bring him into the class to hide away from us.

So he cries for Papa on and off in the class.  Teacher S say his cries are manageable but on this particular day he was clingy onto cleaner auntie.  Maybe because the teachers were attending the children during bathe and at this point of time, we requested a wipe down for him instead of bath so he was roaming freely in the class and there comes the cleaner auntie mopping the floor and they both hit off (sounds funnie now... lol)!  He cries and showed me that pity look when I went to the classroom to fetch him.

Fast forward 5th day of preschool, his separation anxiety level is getting stronger and can sense that we are leaving him at school again so he starts to get clingy when we walking towards the school and starts to cry when we put him down to take temperature measurement and what not.  So teachers at the door receiving him will then carry him into the hall and we will disappear right before his eyes.  We still hear his cries when we were standing at the stairways outside the entrance.  He was very reliance on someone, anytime in school when the teachers are not available - as long as anyone is available, he will superglue you be it school admin or cleaner auntie 都很随和.  >_<  This is what admin G told me because she has Nat attached to her whole of day five in school.

Was requested to submit a family photo for classroom decorations, so here it is; taken on 11 January 2016 on our way to school!

GETTING USED TO PRESCHOOL

He didn't cry when I went to fetch him from 7th day of preschool.  In fact, he asked for "Mama?" when teacher S brought him out to wear his shoes.  Great job Nat!  I was also told by teacher that he's eating breakfast together with the children and even had 3 or 4 (cannot remember) servings of oats for breakfast this morning and poo-ed twice!  >_>  And while waiting for Papa to come, he was at the entrance area standing around and bidding goodbye to other children and we occupied ourselves by taking photos / wefie with the CNY decorations!

8th day of preschool; he starts to get clingy on the bus journey to school and cries when we are at the entrance of the school (doors are not even open yet...).  However, even though he is crying, he can still give attention to Teacher G when she asked to open mouth to check and torchlight his palms and take temperature - concurrently!  After Teacher carried him and I give 'flying kiss' to him, he was able to wave us goodbye and cry at the same time!  So poor thing, this boy...

CHANGES AFTER HE STARTED PRESCHOOL

His sleeping routine improved - he's milk time is now 845pm (used to be 945am or later) and fell asleep within 20mins.  Lesser crying.  That means Mama has more time for housework!

He wakes up earlier for milk - if I am lucky, I can wake him up to prepare him for school when I'm done dressing up at about 710am.  If not, he would wake up at 6am or 645am for milk and be awake.

He starts to get cranky between 715pm-8pm, so no more walks and other activities (unnecessary) and will wipe him down, prepare him to go home right after our dinner!

He starts to get shy in front of strangers - he buries his head into my stomach or Papa's legs when he sees strangers.

He says bye bye (insert anything), motorbike, toothpaste, flower, pocket, Papa coming, Mama make milk, good morning Teacher...

That's updates for first 2 weeks of preschool!

Note to son;

We sent you to school hoping you will learn new things, make new friends, have fun and enjoy the day.
We love you!

Love,
Mama
